GRUPO NAVEC, CYMI, KAEFER and MASA receive the awards for the best service companies of Dow

Tarragona, June 12, 2024 – Dow Chemical Ibérica has recognized the meritorious work carried out by the service companies with which it collaborates, presenting four distinctions: Award for Safety, Health and Environment; Award for the Quality of Execution of Works; Innovation Award and Award for Inclusion, Diversity and Equity; in an event held yesterday, June 11, at the facilities of the Dow Tarragona Industrial Complex and which has had the participation of more than 150 attendees belonging to nearly 100 companies

These awards, which are annual, are awarded to those companies that obtain the best results in these fields, in accordance with the criteria established by the Service Companies Evaluation Plan. 

This year, the distinguished companies were: 

  • Safety Award: GRUPO NAVEC, for carrying out very complex regular maintenance work, recoils, projects, shutdowns and leak repairs, achieving the common goal of 0 accidents. It highlights its commitment to safety at all levels and its proactivity in continuous improvement.
  • Quality Award: CYMI, for its participation in the last Shutdown of our Low Density Polyethylene Plants and in the associated projects. A high volume of work developed with experienced and competent personnel, who adapted at all times to the execution needs during the Shutdown and the Projects.
  • Innovation Award: KAEFER,  for its initiative and commitment to digitalisation. The company has stood out for the project of digitization or 3D modeling of scaffolding, which may be a disruptive innovation in the field of scaffolding construction.
  • Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Award: MASA, for its commitment through its Diversity and Inclusion policy and, in particular, for its commitment to the inclusion of people with physical disabilities in the labour market.

The event took place within the framework of the annual meeting that Dow organizes with the service companies that collaborate in the Tarragona Industrial Complex. Yolanda González, Contract Operations Manager, and Núria Ríos, Head of Purchasing for the Iberian region, were in charge of conducting this event, which was attended by Ignasi Cañagueral, Director of the Dow Tarragona Industrial Complex, Lluis Argilaguet, Regional Director for Europe and Latin America Engineering, Maintenance and Shutdowns; Ricard Massot, Director of Maintenance and Engineering in Tarragona;Luis Lafuente (Senior Turnaround Manager), Sandra González, Head of Security of Service Companies; Félix Hernández, Quality Manager; and Orlando Bonett, Improvement Manager. 

A round table has also been organised with the aim of discussing the lack of qualified personnel in service companies and in the industrial environment. To this end, Javier Almandoz (president of the Association of Service Companies of Tarragona), Juan García (Manager of the company Siemsa), Francisco Javier Abad (teaching technician of the general directorate of public centers of the Department of Education) and Eloy Girol (team leader in Siemsa and former student of the higher level training cycle of Industrial Automation and Robotics)

In his opening speech, Ricard Massot stressed the "need to work together, Dow and service companies, because, in the end, we build the past, present and future together".

Ignasi Cañagueral spoke about Dow's challenges for the coming years in terms of sustainability. "We have a roadmap that marks the path towards climate neutrality by 2050, but we need everyone's collaboration to be able to carry it out. You play an important role," he remarked.

For his part, Lluís Argilaguet closed the event by appealing to "union and joint work with all service companies. The greater the challenge, the greater our collaboration must be. That will make us stronger and better.
